Ello nos ha motivado a dedicar el segundo número de la revista al tema Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad.

Los estudios sociales de la ciencia y la tecnología, o estudios sobre ciencia, tecnología y sociedad (CTS), constituyen un campo de trabajo en los ámbitos de la investigación académica, la educación y la política pública.

We are seeking contributions for a special issue of Culture Machine – an international open-access journal of culture and theory – exploring Machine Intelligences in Context.

Culture Machine is a series of experiments in culture and theory. Its aim is to seek out and promote scholarly work that engages provocatively with contemporary technical objects, processes and imaginaries from the North and South. Building on its open ended, non-instrumental, and exploratory approach to critical theory, Culture Machine calls for creative scholarship and research that contests globalizing technical narratives and their environmental logics of extraction.

Cross-Border Healthcare: the interaction between countries, cities, and cultures in healthcare

How do bodies, knowledges, tissues, ideas, instruments, policies, cross borders in today’s globalized healthcare scenario? Where do they come from and where do they travel to, and why? What do these displacements do to the local healthcare practice in each point of the journey? What do these border-crossings imply in terms of healthcare services, conceptions of health, illness, western medicine, and other forms of healthcare knowledges? What sort of reflection can the notion of ‘cross-border’ healthcare produce? What about the other terms circulating in the literature, in the market, and in legislations? Despite its wide dissemination within the social sciences and the humanities, Actor-Network Theory (ANT) has been little addressed in Latin America in a systematic way. Thus, while there are many studies that use this framework in articles, book chapters and graduate theses, a book in Spanish that focuses on its main contributions and current and potential developments is still pending.
